Hrebienok is a the most famous tourist center that you can reach directly from Starý Smokovec. It is an ideal starting point for many popular hikes, such as Robber's cottage, Téry's Hut, Waterfalls of the Cold Creek or via the Tatra main trail to Silesian House. You can get here on foot in about 45 minutes, but the most comfortable way is a ride on the ground cable railway, which takes only 7 minutes.
Hrebienok is open year-round and offers activities for everyone. In winter it turns into an entertainment center with the spectacular Tatra Temple of Ice, popular sledging from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec and many ice sculptures. In summer it is a crossroads of hiking trails where you can admire art in the form of bear sculptures and explore the surroundings along easy paths.
You can also visit Kvantarium, a modern gallery of light featuring interactive exhibits, light effects, and multimedia projections. This unique attraction delights both children and adults and is a great option even during bad weather.
